Management Buy-Ins
Also read: Management Buy-Outs | Buying a Business
A management buy in or an (“MBI”) is where a business is sold to an outside management team.
This happens when:
-
The business is not doing well and it would benefit from an additional management input.
-
The MBI team has special knowledge and will be able to take the business forward.
-
MBI’s are known to be more difficult to fund than an MBO.
The lenders will have to be convinced that the MBI team (or MBI candidate) has enough experience and has the ability to deliver.
-
Usually a MBI candidate should have the following attributes:
-
A proven established business background.
-
A business leader that has drive and enthusiasm.
-
Is able to risk all personal capital.
At Sterling Capital Reserve, we continually act for MBI candidates in regard of their business acquisitions. MBI’s do not always have to be multi million pound businesses. We have acted on behalf of many MBI’s with regard to their businesses in the region of between £500k to £5 million turnover sectors.
