Sale & Leaseback
This has the same fundamental facility as the finance or operating lease. The only difference being is that you own the assets therefore you are the supplier. The invoice that you raise is for the lower current market value or you’re written down tax value.
Chattel Mortgage
A Chattel Mortgage has a fixed charge over an asset other than freehold land. The finance company can then give money against security of the chattels. They will register their charge and you do not need to invoice the funder for the assets. This may be useful if the assets have a low tax written down value or maybe you have anxiety about posting a profit /loss disposal. Please remember that Chattels Mortgages are usually only available to corporate bodies to which English Law applies (Chattels Mortgage is not recognized in Scottish Law). Also Chattels Mortgages does not apply to marine vessels or aircraft as they are not UK sited.
